Deliverable 3.1: Report on 3D media capture and content preparation
This deliverable provides a description of the proposed 3D multimedia content capturing and preparation work. In particular, this deliverable outlines the details of the studio set-up, the equipment used for capturing and recording, the considered content scenarios, and the post-production workflow to make the captured content ready to use according to the DIOMEDES objectives.
Two different multi-camera arrangements were set up: one with all eight cameras arranged in a straight line (parallel), where the optical axes of all cameras are manually adjusted to be parallel, and one with all cameras arranged in a slight arc (convergent).

Preview Of The Captured 3D Content
Three scenarios were designed for the capture sessions. These three scenarios are described below. Note that the videos below will play as stereoscopic 3D videos when played on the YouTube site, with a variety of viewing options, such as analyglyph.
|The first shoot features musicians, playing as a band. This video sequence is referred to as Music. The linear multi-camera set-up was utilised and the video was captured with HD 1080p25. To the right is a preview of the Music scene taken from one of the cameras used. To obtain high quality audio recordings it was necessary to perform additional audio capture work in a treated sound proof room. The video sequence was overdubbed during the post-production process.|
|The second of the shootings, which is referred to as Fencing, was captured with the two different camera configurations mentioned above. The video was captured with HD 720p50 format, since it comprises dense sportsmen movement. A stereoscopic preview of the Fencing scene from two of the cameras can be seen on the right. The background and the floor was covered with a blue curtain.|

The video was captured with HD 1080p25 format, since it comprises a low amount of activity. A stereoscopic preview of the Lecture scene from two of the cameras can be seen on the right.
